Greetings, poets and storytellers. I hope you are having a very
good day. If you are in the East Coast of the USA, I also hope that you and yours
aren’t affected by Hurricane Henri. My bit of the world is supposed to get rain
and a lot of wind (which might
involve loss of power and such), but those closer to the coast might
have to deal with floods.
But enough about the weather, let’s open the Pantry and share
our words… for words, on a rainy day, can be the best kind of magic. Please
add your poetry or prose to Mr. Linky. We welcome contributions that are
new or old, fiction or nonfiction, short or longish (prose pieces should be 369 words
or fewer). One link per participant. This prompt
shall stay open for a week. Visit other writers and let them know what their
words do for your heart.

It has been reduced to a tropical storm. Still undesirable, but not as nasty. Fingers crossed, right?

DeleteCalms before storms can be very eerie. We get about one scare a year here along the Texas Gulf Coast. Our first house that we lived in for 23 years flooded to put 33 inches of water inside. We also lost three cars and a motorcycle. After we moved it hase flooded twice since.

Lost three cars and a motorcycle? Wow. That's terrible. Our car is in the garage at the moment. But since the garage is partially underground. I have been going to check every once in a while--the garage has flooded in the past.
DeleteMagaly, don't leave it too late! The last big flood we had here a few years ago, a friend moved her car a short distance to higher ground when the water was lapping her ankles. She walked back in water up to her thighs! (Mind you, just as well she moved the car or it would have been floating away later that night. Also just as well she has a two-storey home, or she might not still be here herself!)

These past few days here, we are getting lots of rain. During this time of the year, it's supposed to be hot and dry. The weather has gone wonky.
Nature isn't too happy with humanity. And who can blame her, right? We've made a mess of things.
DeleteGreetings all! Still very dry in Central Oregon ~~ we have huge shifts in temps now. 38 degrees Fahrenheit this morning, reaching a high of 77 this afternoon before heading back down. Great for sleeping with windows open … we need rain.

DeleteIt has been WAY too long since I have read or written a poem! I've missed you all and hope I'm back on track. I have a laptop now (finally) - still love my huge desk top computer but I will now be able to travel and stay connected much easier.
