Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! Every now and then I get in a mood where I love to hear covers or updated versions of old songs. It’s always interesting to me to compare or contrast the changes between the original and the newer version. I like it especially when there’s a notable difference in feel between the two, or if the emotions they bring up feel different. The latest song on high replay for me is this updated version of Rebel, Rebel, re-done by David Bowie (it's been good company as I edit my rough draft of my Yuuki novel).
Some of my favorite covers are Unchained Melody by Cyndi Lauper, Romeo and Juliet by the Indigo Girls, Hurt by Johnny Cash, and Sound of Silence by Disturbed. Are there any covers or updates that you especially like?
For next Wednesday, Magaly would like us to dance into the world of Micro-writing. If choosing poetry, you can write a haiku, a senryū, an American sentence, a tanka, or an elfchen. If going for prose, the genre is your choice, but the word count must be exactly 69 words.
Now is the time for you to share your word magic. I’m taking old and new, fiction and non-fiction, poetry and prose. Just be sure your prose offerings stick to 369 words or fewer, and one entry per person please.
