Hello word artists and admirers! Listen to any fun tunes lately? I’m still humming songs from the half-time show at last week’s Superbowl. LOL, I’m not really all that much of a sportsball fan
(though I understand it a lot better than I did in years past), but it’s become
something of a tradition to go to my friend’s house, munch on not necessarily healthy
things, and joke around during the game.
So onto the Sunday business! First up…
Announcements and Reminders
- This upcoming Wednesday’s Weekly Scribblings will be hosted by Magaly. She’d like us to “Turn Cliché into Poetry or Prose. Take one cliché, two clichés, three clichés, or as many clichés as you like and turn them into poetry or prose.”
- If you haven’t yet, check out the most recent Wild Friday by Rosemary. She’s got the Living Dead and the words of W.B. Yeats on her mind, especially on how the later can help us put some of the darkness we are living through into perspective. Feel free to jump into the good conversation going on in the comments.
And of course, it
being Sunday, feel free to share your words with us on this open link event.
Your words, old or new, poetry or prose, fiction or slice of life, are all
welcome here. But remember, if you are sharing prose, keep it to 369 words or
fewer. One link per person please. The pantry is all yours until Tuesday night.
Happy writing!
I will be back later to read and comment.
ReplyDeleteMost excellent!
DeleteI love your heading about the stars making love to the Universe. That's what started the train of thought which gave me my poem, about a child falling in love with a landscape.
ReplyDeleteAll the credit goes to Shakira for that. It's a line from her song. I love how you took the line and ran with it.
DeleteOh yes, I just had a listen to Shakira and discovered that. Not my usual kind of music, but a perfect song for the times we are living through!
DeleteMy musical tastes are fairly eclectic. There are some subgenres that aren't my thing (screamo comes to mind), but I'll give lots of different styles of music a listen.
DeleteRommy, I'm right there with Rosemary--your choice of title rocks!
DeleteStarting the day with the pantry has made Sunday's better.
ReplyDeleteDecide to share me first 100 word story.
Congrats on your first 100 word story!
DeleteLuv that music video, thanks for sharing. Happy Sunday to all
ReplyDelete(✿◠‿◠)
much love...
Happy Sunday to you too!
DeleteOff to my Sunday family routine (leaving the coast/NH and heading back to the mountains) will check in later. Looking forward to reading creative works.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
DeleteBecause I like the company and it's Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThose sound like good reasons to me!
DeleteLate start today - hello to all. I will be back later to read and comment. Have been reading a bit of Yeats lately = coincidence!
ReplyDelete*Smile.*
DeleteYay for Yeats
DeleteThanks, Rommy, for hosting. Lots of busy folk here are squeezing their time to write, and answer comments. But I'm retired and shouldn't be squeezed. But today it happened, I'm posting my Sunday Muse work. It is on the love ride though not universe related. Could I be forgiven?
ReplyDeleteAn aside, three hours ago we received bad news, my SIL has been airlifted to the LSU Hospital for help with a stroke. She is in the ER right now.
So if you are the praying type would you say a prayer for her. Thank you. Jim H
..
Prayers coming for good news, Jim.
DeleteOf course, Jim. *hugs*
DeleteJim, I hope for a speedy recovery for her.
DeleteJim, I hope your SIL is getting better. Keeping you and her in my thoughts.
DeleteStars making love to the universe reminded me of an idyllic time when my children were small. As for the Super Bowl half-time show … I think JLo and Shakira set the Me Too movement back a couple of eons...just when women were trying to rise above being just sex objects!
ReplyDeleteBev, I'm extremely interested in learning exactly what part about two strong women choosing to dance and sing about speaking out, about unity, and about making love to the universe "set[s] the Me Too movement back a couple of eons", or reduces any woman's worth, or anyone's right to be whatever they want in any way they choose.
DeleteI'd also be curious to hear the answer to that
DeleteHappy Sunday, everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing what you all have written.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenna
DeleteI forgot to hit "send". Back around now!
ReplyDeleteLOL, glad you made it back
Deleteyay sportsball! my team is better than your team!
ReplyDeleteROTFL this is me at every sporting event, even though a lot of my family and friends are into it. I usually keep myself busy at the snack table and chit-chatting. Have you ever heard Weird Al Yancovic's Sports Song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGbqGkS1c2w
DeleteGood (Monday) morning, everyone. My schedule decided to go nuts at the last minutes on Sunday, then I was exhausted and totally passed out, and now I'm about to head back to the hospital (again) to spend more quality time with lab coat wearers. Not for long, thank goodness. And when I get back--in a few hours--I will have your words to delight in. That's not the worst start to a long week to come, is it? I hope this new week is good on us all. Read you soon!
ReplyDeleteHoping for a much better week for you, with lots of opportunities to rest and enjoy things.
DeleteLove your dedication, to turn up here asap despite extreme circumstances!
DeleteComing here is my reward after all the mess!
