Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! We all have songs we
adore, the ones that remind us of good times, or even shake us out of bad
moods. For today’s optional prompt I want you to forget all those. I would like
you to shape your words around lyrics from a song you hate. Poetry and prose
are both welcome, as are fiction and non-fiction. Please limit yourself to 369
words or fewer and one entry per person.
I actually rather like this song. It's perfect for the theme.
Next week, Rosemary will ask us to write something –
anything – on the subject of AI.
I'm sure I must have had 'pet hate' songs in the past, but nowadays I can't recall; I only have categories of songs I'm not keen on. Like everyone, I tend to love what was big when I was young, so folk and rock are my favourites. I also love both blues and opera. I really dislike most contemporary pop. However, have gone off-prompt today.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I thought I had something for me too, but I went way off prompt.
Deletei am not on prompt today - Sorry! i had one written already and i have visitors coming and no time to write. i will visit and comment! Thank you for this opportunity to share our poetry and read other poets!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely time with your visitors!
DeleteYou know, I spent some time thinking about "songs I hate" and realized that there might not be a song I truly hate. But there are certain types of song I don't like: songs that sing of women as things, songs about senseless violence, songs about smoking ( I know, weird).
ReplyDeleteROTFL... I found myself in the same corner, disliking pretty much the same type of things (though I don't have as strong an aversion to smoking in songs as I do in real life) but nothing that added up to hate really.
DeleteGood day, Poets & Storytellers!
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I really hated repetitive lyrics from Chinese or Western pop songs, e.g. yeah, yeah yeah or something like that. We called that "off beat". Nowadays, I learn to appreciate all genres of music, except those that are too nationalistic, or promote hate, racism or death.
During the pandemic lockdown, I learned of a female Japanese rock band whose musicianship are second to none at the moment. Strange things happen. :)
OK, you need to share the name of that band stat! LOL, I'm getting more into J-rock at the moment. I actually have tickets to see Babymetal in September when they come to the US. And I agree with you about the type of songs I dislike.
DeleteI have been grappling with the concept of writer’s block — what is it, can one get past it, or just outlast it. Here are a few thoughts in this regarr.
