Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! Like a lot of folks, my family has been enjoying the Netflix series Stranger Things. Without giving too much away, part of the plot revolves around the power of a good song, specifically Kate Bush’s Running Up that Hill. That song has had a big resurgence in popularity since being featured in the series, including placing on the pop charts again. I can see why. It was hard for me not to be moved with how much this song brought to a pretty major scene. Though that's part of the magic of the right song hitting at just the right time.
For those of you who want a prompt to work with, I suggest taking
a line from a song that moves you on some level and using that to inspire your words (please do
mention which song was the inspiration in your post). I’m open to poetry and
prose, fiction and non-fiction. One post per person and please keep all prose
to 369 words or fewer.
Next week, Rosemary will ask us to respond to the phrase ‘Dream big’.
I definitely have to catch up with that show! And great prompt, thanks Rommy - even if I did get it upside-down or back-to-front or something.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry, that was me, Rosemary - on new iPad, which I evidently need to program a bit more.
DeleteLOL, Upside Down is on brand for Stranger Things.
DeleteMy apologies again this week the wrong link somehow got posted . Thanks for your patience i added the correct link.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend everyone.
Much❤love
Thanks, Gillena, for being so prompt with the fix. I've tidied it up for you.
DeleteThank you both for helping tidy up!
DeleteThe beast of repression continues spreading its lethal claws, in a tighter and tighter grip on this 🌎 in an increasing attempt to crush independence and free thought. My post today is my reaction to the dark world news.
ReplyDeleteHere DownUnder I've just woken up to discover it first thing, reading a friend's Insta post. Too horrifying! Scarcely believable!
DeleteOh sorry, I read too hastily, and was just that moment reeling from the shock of the USA news (Roe v Wade), I see now you were talking more broadly, of world news. And while the USA greatly affects the rest of the world, you probably had the war in Ukraine and/or the disaster in Afghanistan in mind. To which my above response would be fitting, too.
DeleteThere's a whole lot of awful to go around in the last few days.
DeleteGreetings everyone!!!! Enjoy the Summer ... see you in September.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely summer, Helen!
DeleteHugs from Helen.
DeleteGood day, Poets and Storytellers!
ReplyDeleteYes, the right song hitting at just the right time. Reminds me of John Lennon's "imagine' at the end of The Killing Fields.
Good to be back. :)
I haven't seen that movie, but man oh man I can only imagine the impact a song like that would have at the end of a movie like that.
DeleteSorry everyone, I am working through the replies. I promise I'll get to them all.
