Friday Writings #20: A Piece of Cake

Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! I am using my turn at hosting to wish one of the admins of this page a happy birthday a few days early. Happy birthday, Magaly Guerrero!


While you are free to write on any topic that speaks to you, in honor of Magaly’s birthday I’m making this week's suggested prompt about cake. Simply include the word cake somewhere in your piece. I’m taking poetry and prose, fiction and non-fiction. Just be sure to keep prose to 369 words or less, and it's one entry per person, please and thank you. 



Next week, Rosemary shall suggest that we look and see what is present, in our surroundings and/or our hearts, and write of that.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAGALY!!!
    Thank you "Rom" for the fun writing trip, my write is mostly true. I used it for my first of April's National Poem Writing Month entry with the NaPoWriMo group. You guys enter that, it's a nice experience. I've linked to it in my notes.

      Another Oh Yes, today is my last day of quarantine for COVID-19 and will go home this weekend, battle scars and all.

    Not going with the prompt today. I'm participating in the April A to Z Blogging Challenge, so it's an A poem for that. I could have done an ode to my grandmother's applesauce cake! Or, that writing a terza rima, for me, was not a piece of cake.

    Heads up, Magaly. My poem is not a mean passive-aggressive birthday wish! (I realize the title might make one think that.) It's a totally unrelated poem that has a reference to cake. I think you are a lovely person and I wish you a wonderful belated birthday free of passive-aggressiveness!
