Writers' Pantry #55: Dance Break!

Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! It is really chilly where I live right now. I think my dog is the only one who appreciates it this cold, but even he will cut evening walks short if its too cold. (Thank goodness for long underwear and thick mittens!)

Most of my activity involves dancing around my living room. It takes a fair bit of dancing to hit the 10,000 step mark on my Fitbit. But fortunately I'm good at finding music that gets me up and moving. Got any tune suggestions to share?

So this upcoming Wednesday, Rosemary will invite you to write about turning into one of your parents – or about resisting that possibility.

On to the word wonderfulness! I'm taking words old or new, poetry or prose, fiction or non fiction. Just be sure to keep all prose to 369 words or less, and just one entry per person.

  1. Happy Sunday everyone! Hoping everyone is healthy and safe .... I enjoy traveling back in time, for Writer's Pantry ... posting old poems. Today I journeyed back to 2010.

    1. I agree. I like finding things I'd almost forgotten and realising they still say something valid.

    2. It's always cool to re-discover some of our older gems.

  2. Just the opposite here, Rommy. Often too warm to go out walking. So I sometimes do my walking indoors, or sometimes even march up and down the passage with arms swinging and knees lifting. Dancing, hmmmm ... I'll have to think about what music to play. Your fun selection might be a bit lively for me, lol.

    1. There would have to be some very fast walking to keep up to that song LOL

  3. After three weeks of not using the AC, my part of the world goes back to normal boiling. I thought of Geri Halliwell's It's Raining Men, but all I could muster was seeing myself as one of the audition committee, lol. Hope everyone is well. Blimey it's February already.

    1. That's a great cover! LOL, though I first became aware of it when it was used as in an anime fan-made video. I only saw the actual video for it much later.

  4. Hi Rommy - cheers for hosting.
It is cold here too, shiver-me-timbers stuff and hopefully the room will warm up soon. CH been on full for nigh on five hours and my feet are still cold!

    1. We're expecting some very big snow storms too later today. I hope the power stays on, but we have firewood and candles at the ready, just in case.

  5. Good day, poets!
even over at tropical here, it's getting quite chilly at night, and the rains, they come and go as they pleased. i wonder if the world weather is getting a bit wonky.
will be doing my reading rounds later. :)

  6. As you might already suspect, we are freezing our rears too. They are talking about inches of snow (all right, they said 14, but 13 is a much cooler number).

When it comes to exercise music I always go old Dominican. I love merengue típico (perico ripiao). It's really fast, so I use it for running and for dancing on my trampoline. My favorite artists in the genre are Antony Santos and Luis Vargas. These are two mixes I often dance/run to:

    Luis Vargas - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsGe7fjWQGs&t=140s

    Antony Santos - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rCwujstvaI

What are your favorite tunes to dance to?

    1. I'll have to add these to the rotation!

LOL, I usually let Spotify lead the way, messing around on their suggested for me playlists until I find something that works. For a while the Birds of Prey soundtrack was on heavy rotation there. I also had some 90's dance tracks and Latin Freestyle from the 80's put in an appearance.

  8. I missed some prompts while offline. This one, I think I answered a few years ago, at https://priscillaking.blogspot.com/2016/10/my-mother-is-beautiful.html . It's too long for the Linky.
