Friday Writings #65: It’s Been a Long Time Coming

Hello, Word Artists and Admirers! My dog Kit has come a long way since New Year’s Eve. In those early days we were told to prepare for the worst. Although it may be a while—if ever—before Kit can walk outside to do his business on his own power, he now gets up and down on his own to walk a few feet a couple of times a day (usually to go toward someone who has unfinished food on their plate). And he will definitely walk a few steps to look out the door and bark at other dogs going by.

For those of you who'd like a prompt, this week I'd like you to shape your words around the phrase, "it's been a long time coming." I'm taking poetry and prose, fiction or non-fiction. Just please remember to keep your creations to 369 words or fewer and only one entry per person.

Next week, Rosemary will invite us to write something which completes the phrase, ‘In the face of disaster…’

  1. Good Morning!! I'm happy for Kit and Romm; hearing of the progress at your house. We can all pull together for more, more, more!!
I wrote late Wednesday this write and only two left comments, my measure of readership. So quickly I made it fit, sort of, for our neat prompt phrase from Rommy. Thank you Rommy!! I really hadn't told of this experience before, to no one.
We at our house are happy today for being happily married for sooo long. Fifty years ago tomorrow we were eating our honeymoon breakfast breakfast at the Jack-in-the-box across the street from our hotel in San Antonio, Texas. At our ages 25 years was our hope back then.

    1. We're happy too that we were finally able to see, and have, a neurologist checking into our memory losses. We blame the COVID-19 for that and some balance problems for me. It has been 11 1/2 months ago. A d yes, we were fully vaccinated with two injections and two boosters.

  2. Mine this week is a bit rude. Am I getting dementia, I wonder, when supposedly one loses inhibitions on what one says? But no, I have always been fairly uninhibited in that regard! It's only that, at my age, and it having happened to people in the family, that worry is always a bit in the back of my mind. So far the doctor says not. I guess I'm just rude.

    1. Just added yours to Mr. Linky. I wonder if it's a cookie thing keeping you from seeing it.
